Leafmines from Oughtonhead NR by Andy Banthorpe

A few of the things I found today, 20th October 2011, at Oughtonhead NR Hitchin

Phyllocnistis saligna mines on a Willow sp.

Scans of the ending of the mines - the larva mines up the petiole from the stem then pupates under the fold on the leaf edge

The mine started in the underside of the leaf at the top left then down the petiole and down the stem for a bit before reversing and going up the stem then round the stem a bit out of shot before continuing upwards

The larval mine here comes up the stem into view at the right hand side before continuing up the petiole into the underside of the leaf blade and the larva has pupated under the fold.

This shows the willow sp. that the mines are on

Ectoedemia rubivora mine in Bramble

Bucculatrix cidarella mine in Alder
